Shipping & Lead Times
Q: If I purchase parts or accessories with a firearm, will they arrive together?
A: Not necessarily. Due to different legal requirements and lead times, firearms and parts/accessories ship separately — often with different carriers — as soon as each item is ready.
Q: Why does Taran Tactical pre-select my shipping option?
A: To ensure compliance with legal requirements while keeping your shipping costs as low as possible.
Product Compatibility
Q: Why will some of your base pads be incompatible with certain magazines?
A: Our extensions are designed for specific magazines. Even slight variations can cause feeding issues or malfunctions.
Q: Are there Glock 26/27/43X/48 compatible base pads available?
A: We cannot produce base pads that increase capacity for 10-round magazines due to California law. However, we do offer +0 extensions for double-stack 9mm/.40 OEM Glock magazines, available here:
0 Base Pad for Glock 9/40 OEM Magazines
Q: Why can I not purchase certain base pads if I live in California or Washington?
A: State law prohibits “conversion kits,” which includes base pads that can increase capacity beyond 10 rounds.
This applies to all residents, including LEOs.
LEOs may send in magazines for us to install base pads, or we can ship directly to your department.
Email patwenge@gmail.com for details.
Q: Which magazine will I be able to use?
A: Each base pad is designed to fit the magazine listed in the product description. Multi-platform compatibility is not guaranteed. All Glock base pads are designed for Glock OEM magazines.
Q: What generation will Taran Tactical base pads work with?
A: Generations 1–5 are compatible.
Note: Magwells are not compatible with all generations.
Q: Does Taran Tactical product work with aftermarket parts?
A: No. Our products are not intended for use with aftermarket parts.
Q: Does Taran Tactical offer 10mm compatible base pads?
A: Not at this time.
Q: Will TTI Magwells work with a back strap or beaver tail attachment?
A: No. Our magwells are not designed to work with grip modifications, including back straps or beavertails.
Q: What does “will add a cant” mean for Glock 9/40 +5/6 base pads on a Glock 19 or 23?
A: It means the extension changes the magazine’s angle inside the grip, which can cause capacity loss or malfunctions. Use only with the magazines they are designed for.
Q: Can I use a Glock 43 base pad with a grip plug?
A: No. The Glock 43 base pad is not compatible with grip plugs.
Q: Why aren’t my base pads exactly the same color as pictured?
A: Anodizing is an imperfect process — color shades may vary between batches. This does not affect performance.
Q: What is the difference between Black and Flat Black?
A: Flat Black is sandblasted before anodizing for a matte look. Black has a slight sheen from anodizing over billet aluminum.
Q: Can you stipple my Glock frame if it’s not black?
A: Yes, but it’s more challenging due to plastic consistency. This is handled case-by-case — email patwenge@gmail.com for details.
Installation & Maintenance
Q: How do I install/uninstall TTI base pads?
A:
Remove the original base plate and any bottom insert.
If a spring is provided, reuse your original follower and install it on the new spring.
Slide the follower and spring into the magazine body.
Depress the retention pin, slide the base pad on, and release the pin to lock it.
Important:
Set screws are pre-set with Loctite® and rarely need adjustment.
For removal instructions, see our video: Base Pad Removal Video
Q: Will my extension include a spring?
A: If we make a spring for that extension, it will be included. If not, use the stock magazine spring.
Warranty & Policies
Q: Does Taran Tactical warranty a refinished magazine extension?
A: No. We do not warranty altered magazine extensions.
Q: Should I use a magazine extension on my carry weapon?
A: Our products are tested for reliability in competition, but if using for carry/duty, thoroughly test before relying on them.
